“A volcanic violinist with a huge, fabulous tone,”
Canadian-born Lara St. John is a violin soloist and musical maverick. She has owned her own label, Ancalagon, since 1999, on which she has released albums that range from classical to new commissions to folk music and more. She has performed as soloist with orchestra throughout the world and has also traveled to Latin America for appearances with the Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela, the Sao Paulo Symphony and Rio de Janeiro’s Orquestra Sinfonica Brasileira. Uniquely combining the superlative technique of a classical virtuoso with his prowess in jazz, world music and free improvisation, pianist, composer and arranger Matt Herskowitz has carved out a unique and personal voice in music. Join these two extraordinary artists as we celebrate (belatedly) Beethoven’s 250th birthday and take a global tour of some fascinating dance music.
